Since 1 May 2026 the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program uses a tiered rebate based on battery size, and the program has been expanded to $7.2 billion through to 2030. A typical 13 kWh battery gets roughly $3,200 off the installed price — applied directly to your quote.

Next change: 1 January 2027. The STC factor steps down from 6.8 to 5.7, then keeps reducing every six months until the program ends in 2030. Batteries must be paired with a new or existing solar system and installed by an accredited installer. There is no income test.
